Hamida Akter, an 18-year-old gentle and hopeful young woman, is expecting her first child and dreams of building a happy family with her husband, Mahdi Hasan. Her husband works hard as a daily wage earner, making only 10,000 taka a month to support their six-member family, including his elderly parents and two younger brothers who are still in school. Recently, at 37 weeks of pregnancy, Hamida noticed that her baby’s movements had decreased, and doctors discovered severe oligohydramnios with meconium-stained fluid and fetal distress, a life-threatening condition for the unborn child. The doctors advised an immediate cesarean section to save both mother and baby, but the family’s small income barely covers food and rent, leaving them unable to afford the urgent surgery. Without timely treatment, both Hamida and her baby are at grave risk, and the young couple’s dream of a happy beginning could turn into a heartbreaking tragedy.

After experiencing, less fetal movement without labour pain for more than 5 days over her 37+ weeks of pregnancy , she arrived at our hospital at 6.20PM in 01 September 2025 and doctors performed an ultrasound that revealed meconium stained amniotic fluid with amniotic fluid is very low with fetal distress , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful male baby. Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. We discharged the patient at 10.30AM in 04 October 2025.The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.

Based on the critical diagnosis, the doctor's prognosis is that an immediate cesarean section is a life-saving intervention for both the mother and baby. The presence of severe oligohydramnios, fetal distress, and meconium staining indicates the baby is in immediate danger. Without urgent treatment, the baby is at a high risk of inhaling the meconium, leading to a severe and potentially fatal condition called Meconium Aspiration Syndrome, which can cause lifelong respiratory problems or death. The prompt surgical delivery will bypass the dangers of a vaginal birth in this scenario, providing the best chance for the baby to be born safely and for the mother to avoid severe complications, thus securing a positive outcome and ensuring the baby's future health.
