Iliyasu I., 10

Iliyasu is 10 years old. He is living with his parents and he is the 5th child among 6 children. The father is a civil servant and the mother is a house wife. They live in a 3 rooms apartment with a toilet separately from the house. He developed a fever, headache and abdominal pain of 7 days duration. Appetite is reduced and fever is high grade. His body temperature is 38.9o C with gnathopathy, abdominal tenderness more at the right iliac fossa. No money to take him to the hospital, the mother was told about Helpster Charity and she brought him to the hospital where he will be evaluated. Upon presentation at our hospital ,and after further evaluation, he was diagnosed with Enteric fever.

When Iliyasu was brought to WholeCare facility, because of how febrile and weak he was, no appetite, he was immediately admitted. Tests were run and he was diagnosed with enteric fever. Treatment commenced with antibiotics and other supportive care, after few days he regained his strength, eating continued well and the mother is happy again. He was discharged and was scheduled for follow-up. They appreciated Helpster Charity for their support.

With early diagnosis and proper antibiotic treatment, the prognosis for enteric fever is generally good, and most patients recover fully. However, delayed or inadequate therapy can lead to complications such as intestinal perforation, severe infection, or relapse. Good hygiene and sanitation help prevent recurrence and community spread.
