When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About malaria + enteric fever
Malaria and enteric fever are major infectious diseases common in tropical and subtropical regions, both presenting with fever but caused by different organisms. Malaria is transmitted through the bite of infected Anopheles mosquitoes carrying Plasmodium parasites and is characterized by intermittent fever, chills, sweating, headache, and body weakness, with severe cases leading to anemia or organ failure. Enteric fever, caused by Salmonella typhi or paratyphi and spread through contaminated food or water, presents with prolonged fever, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and digestive disturbances. Because their symptoms may overlap, laboratory tests are essential for accurate diagnosis. Prompt treatment with antimalarial drugs for malaria and antibiotics for enteric fever ensures full recovery and prevents serious complications.

Background
Abubakar is a 5 years old child living with his parents, he is in a government nursery school, he goes to school with his other siblings. The father is a security guard and the mother is a house wife. They live in a 2 rooms appartement owned by the parents. A 5years old male child presenting with fever, low appetite and catarrh, he had watery stool for a day, some home remedies was given but no positive changes on the child's condition. The parents don't have money to take him to the hospital for medication, they got an information about Helpster charity through a recent outreach and they contacted me as a volunteer for assistance to get to Albishir hospital. Upon presentation at our hospital, and after further clinical evaluation, he was diagnosed with malaria and enteric fever.
Medical history
Abubakar a 5 years old child was brought to Albishir hospital with signs of malaria, he was attended to immediately by the medical personnel, he was diagnosed with malaria and enteric fever. Treatment commenced with injection antimalarial, injection antibiotics and other supportive care. Patient did well, was stable and discharged with some take home orals and was scheduled for follow up. The parents remain grateful to Helpster charity team and Albishir hospital for their heroic strength and support.
Prognosis
The prognosis of malaria and enteric fever is generally good when both are diagnosed early and treated promptly with the right medications. Most patients recover completely with appropriate antimalarials for malaria and antibiotics for enteric fever. However, delayed or inadequate treatment can lead to severe complications such as cerebral malaria, severe anemia, or intestinal perforation, which may become life-threatening. With timely medical care and supportive management, recovery is usually quick and outcomes are favorable.
