John is a 4-year-old boy from a disadvantaged background. His parents separated when he was one year old, and shortly thereafter, his mother abandoned him in the village, leaving him in the care of his elderly grandmother. John currently lives with his grandmother, who struggles to provide for both of them. She walks long distances daily to the market to buy kale, which she resells in remote areas, earning less than KSh 80 per day—barely enough to cover even one basic meal for herself and John. Noticing John’s condition, one of our staff members introduced his grandmother to Helpster Charity. John was promptly attended to and admitted for care. He was brought to our outpatient department by his grandmother due to abdominal pain and a swelling around the belly button. The swelling had been present since birth, with intermittent pain that gradually worsened. Previous attempts at home remedies were ineffective. On the last day, the pain became severe and unbearable. Upon examination, John was diagnosed with an incarcerated umbilical hernia, a condition in which part of the abdominal contents protrudes through a weak spot near the belly button. The pt was brought to the hospital by her grandmother with a complains of abdominal pain and swelling around the umbilicus. It was reported the swelling had been present since birth but the pain was on and off and become unbearable of the past 1 day.investigation were done and diagnosed with incarcerated umbilical hernia, Umbilical hernia is a surgical condition that occurs when tissue bulges through the abdominal wall. The surgery was contacted successful, the child is doing well and discharged on a good satate.

John’s prognosis is excellent. Following successful surgical repair of the umbilical hernia and proper postoperative care, he is expected to recover fully. With continued monitoring and good nutrition, he should resume normal activities without complications.
