Background
Fatema Begum, a gentle and caring woman, lives in a camp with her husband, three children, and elderly mother-in-law. Her husband works hard as a day laborer, earning only 5,000 BDT per month, which is barely enough to cover food and daily essentials for the family. Now 37 weeks pregnant, Fatema is facing serious complications that could lead to preterm labor or fetal distress, putting both her and her baby’s lives in danger. Without urgent medical treatment, she could lose her baby or suffer life-threatening complications during delivery. The family learned about Helpster Charity from the camp leader, giving them hope for life-saving support during this critical time.
Medical history
Fatema was admitted to the hospital on 12.10.2025 at 37 weeks and 5 days of pregnancy, presenting with lower abdominal pain, per vaginal discharge, and decreased fetal movement. Upon examination and diagnostic evaluation, she was found to have oligohydramnios with reduced fetal movement, indicating the need for immediate medical intervention. She was promptly prepared for a lower uterine cesarean section (LUCS), which was performed successfully to ensure the safety of both mother and baby. The surgery went smoothly, and both were stable after delivery. Postoperatively, Fatema received proper medical care, including antibiotics, pain management, and monitoring for any complications. Her recovery was steady, and she gradually regained strength and comfort. After full recovery and ensuring both mother and newborn were in good health, Fatema was discharged from the hospital on 15.10.2025 in stable condition.
Prognosis
The doctor has recommended a Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) as the safest treatment option for Fatema Begum due to her oligohydramnios and reduced fetal movement, which indicate possible fetal distress.
