Background
Michael is the first-born of two children. His parents currently live with their pastor, who provided them accommodation after they lacked ancestral land. Michael is a cheerful child who enjoys playing football and clay modeling. While at home with his mother, Michael began crying excessively in the evening and developed a high fever. His mother, having no medication at home, gave him plenty of water. Later that night, his condition worsened, and he began convulsing. Due to the severity of his symptoms, they walked six kilometers to the hospital, arriving at 4:50 AM for urgent care. They had heard from some neighbors that there is an organization that assists sick underprivileged children here at this hospital.
Medical history
Michael came to the facility and a was attended to promptly,he responded well to treatment and day 2 after admission he showed marked improvement and could play and eat well. Michael was treated with IV artesunate for the severe malaria and iv antibiotics for the sepsis.He had good prognosis and upon discharge,he had regained his health and was discharged home on oral medications to continue with care at home.The mother brought him after 7 days post discharge for check up and from the clinician's finding,he had recovered since he could play make stories,laugh and even run around.Michael has gone back to his normal life
Prognosis
Given that he received timely care at the hospital after the convulsions and high fever, his immediate condition is stabilized. With continued monitoring, adherence to prescribed treatment, and follow-up care, Michael is expected to recover fully without long-term complications.
