The condition developed rapidly, and her pain worsened despite taking medication. Acute appendicitis is a medical emergency, as a delay in treatment can lead to rupture of the appendix, causing serious infection or peritonitis. Background
Marjana Akter, a gentle and humble 20-year-old woman from Comilla, lives with her unemployed husband and their young child in extreme financial hardship. Her father, a day laborer, struggles to support the family, leaving them unable to afford even basic medical expenses. When Marjana suddenly developed severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever, she was brought to Modern Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with acute appendicitis requiring immediate surgery. Despite her calm and hopeful nature, her family is deeply worried as they cannot pay for the operation. Without urgent treatment, the appendix could rupture, leading to life-threatening infection and putting both Marjana’s and her child’s future at grave risk.
Medical history
The patient named Marjana came to Modern Hospital on October 9, 2025, with severe abdominal pain. The patient initially developed pain in the upper abdomen 10 hours ago. The pain later localized to the right iliac fossa. It is associated with two episodes of vomiting and fever since the previous day. We arranged for her to see a doctor, and the doctor advised hospital admission, so we admitted her. The following day, surgery was performed. The girl is now in good health. The patient recovered and was discharged on October 11, 2025, and returned home. She has expressed her gratitude to Modern Hospital and Helpster Charity.
Prognosis
The doctor’s prognosis for Marjana Akter is positive with appendicectomy under spinal anesthesia (SAB), which is the preferred and effective treatment for acute appendicitis in her condition. With timely surgery, she is expected to make a full recovery and resume her normal activities soon. The operation will remove the inflamed appendix, thereby preventing infection and relieving her severe abdominal pain. However, if left untreated, the appendix could rupture, leading to peritonitis, sepsis, and serious, life-threatening complications.
