Little Abdur Rahman is a fragile one-month-old premature baby boy, born into a loving but impoverished family in Barura, Cumilla. His father, Md. Al Amin, earns only 6,500 Taka per month as a farmer and day laborer, barely enough to feed the family of six, making the BDT 18,000 cost for urgent eye treatment impossible to afford. Abdur Rahman, along with his twin brother Abdullah Al Ayan, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), which could cause permanent blindness if not treated immediately. His devoted mother, Boishakhi Akter, and elderly grandparents, Motaleb Molla and Anowara Begum, are desperate to save his eyesight and ensure a bright future for the twins. Without prompt Anti-VEGF injections and follow-up care, Abdur Rahman risks losing his vision forever, leaving the family heartbroken and unable to protect their little boy’s chance at a healthy, normal life.

Abdur Rahman, a 1-month-old baby boy, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a serious eye condition that required prompt treatment to protect his developing vision. To manage the abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels, Anti-VEGF injections were administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The procedure was carried out carefully, and Abdur Rahman was closely monitored through regular follow-up examinations. He responded positively to the treatment, showing gradual improvement in the condition of his retina. The abnormal blood vessel growth is now under control, and the retinal condition has become more stable. Doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear and healthy vision as he grows older. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, baby Abdur Rahman urgently requires Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes to prevent the progression of ROP. The doctors are confident that if the injections are administered immediately and proper follow-up care is maintained, the baby’s vision can be restored, allowing him to grow up with healthy eyesight. However, delaying treatment could result in irreversible blindness, which would severely affect his quality of life and future development. The total treatment cost of BDT 18,000 is far beyond what the family can bear. With the compassionate support of Helpster Charity and kind-hearted donors, baby Abdur Rahman can be given a second chance at life — the chance to see the love in his mother’s eyes, the beauty of his surroundings, and to one day chase his dreams with clear vision.
