Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Little Adri Das, a cheerful 4-year-old girl who loves playing with her twin sister Adir and their elder sister Adhora, has developed a painful swelling in her right eyelid that now threatens her ability to see clearly. Her father, Arzun Das, works as a day laborer earning only 6,000 BDT per month, which barely covers food and shelter for their family of five, leaving them completely unable to afford the costly eye surgery. Despite Adri’s bright, loving nature and her dream of starting school like her sister, the untreated chalazion could lead to severe infection or long-term vision damage. The family lives in a tiny tin-roofed house with no savings, no assets, and no support, making the medical expense impossible for them to manage. Without timely treatment, Adri’s simple dream of seeing, learning, and growing could slip away, putting her future at heartbreaking risk.
Medical history
Adri Das, a 4-year-old girl, required treatment due to a growth in her right eye that was causing discomfort and affecting her vision. To ensure her eye health and prevent further complications, she underwent excision surgery under general anesthesia performed by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital. The procedure was carried out smoothly, with close monitoring to ensure her safety and comfort throughout the surgery. Adri responded well to the treatment, and her recovery progressed without any complications. After the surgery, she began to feel much more comfortable, and her visual acuity improved significantly. Now she can see clearly and engage in her daily activities with ease. Her restored comfort and vision have brought great relief to her family. Special thanks to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for their invaluable support in giving her the chance to regain clear vision.
Prognosis
According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman Talukder, Senior Consultant of Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Adri requires immediate surgical removal of the chalazion under general anesthesia. The procedure is safe, simple, and effective when done on time. The doctors have assured that once the chalazion is removed, Adri’s eye will heal completely, her vision will be protected, and she will be able to live a healthy, normal childhood again. However, the doctors also warned that delaying the surgery could result in worsening infection, permanent eyelid damage, or reduced vision in the right eye. Early intervention is essential to ensure her eyesight develops normally. The estimated cost of the full treatment, including surgery, medication, and post-surgery care, is BDT 22,500, which the family is unable to afford on their own.
