Little Ayan Ahmed is a fragile one-month-old premature baby boy born into a loving but extremely poor family in Chandpur Sadar. His father, Habib Sarder, earns only 7,000 Taka per month as a grocery shop assistant, which is barely enough to feed the family of four, making the urgent BDT 18,000 eye treatment completely unaffordable. Ayan was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes due to his prematurity and life-saving oxygen therapy, putting him at serious risk of permanent blindness without immediate intervention. His devoted mother, Sadia Akter, and elderly grandparents, Hasan Sarder and Maya Rani, are desperate to save his eyesight and give him a chance at a normal, healthy life. Without prompt Anti-VEGF injections and follow-up care, Ayan’s vision could be lost forever, leaving the family heartbroken and helpless to protect their little boy’s future.

To stop the abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels, Anti-VEGF injections were given by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The procedure was carried out with great care, and his progress was carefully monitored through regular follow-up visits. Ayan responded well to the treatment, and gradual improvement in his retinal condition was observed. The abnormal blood vessel growth is now under control. His retinal health has improved significantly, giving hope that he will develop clear vision as he grows. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, baby Ayan Ahmed urgently requires Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes followed by regular check-ups to monitor his retinal development. The doctors believe that if treatment is administered immediately, there is a very high chance of saving his eyesight and ensuring normal visual growth. However, if treatment is delayed or left undone, the baby will suffer from irreversible blindness, which will affect his learning, development, and quality of life permanently. The doctors strongly recommend immediate intervention to prevent total vision loss.
