Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Little Kaifa Islam is a fragile one-month-old premature baby girl born into a loving but extremely poor family in Faridganj, Chandpur. Her father, Kabir Hossain, earns only 9,000 Taka per month as an electrician, which barely covers the daily needs of his large family, making the urgent BDT 18,000 eye treatment completely unaffordable. Kaifa, who survived the struggles of premature birth and high-flow oxygen therapy, now faces Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, putting her at serious risk of permanent blindness without immediate treatment. Her devoted mother, Lipi Akter, her surviving twin sister Kanisa, and her older siblings, Anisha and Siam, along with her grandparents and extended family, anxiously hope for her recovery and a chance to grow up healthy. Without prompt Anti-VEGF injections, Kaifa could lose her sight forever, leaving the family heartbroken and helpless to protect their little girl’s bright future.
Medical history
Kaifa Islam, a 1-month-old baby girl, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can seriously affect vision if not treated promptly. To manage the abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels, Anti-VEGF injections were administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment was carried out with great care, and Kaifa was closely monitored during follow-up visits. She responded well to the injections, showing steady improvement in her retinal condition. The abnormal blood vessel growth is now under control, and her retina is gradually stabilizing. Doctors remain hopeful that she will develop clear vision as she grows. Sincere thanks to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for their generous support in helping safeguard her eyesight.
Prognosis
According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, baby Kaifa Islam urgently needs Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes, followed by regular monitoring to ensure proper retinal development. The doctors are confident that, with immediate treatment, there is a very high chance of restoring and preserving her eyesight completely. However, any delay in treatment could lead to irreversible retinal damage, causing permanent blindness. The specialists have strongly recommended starting the injections immediately to prevent vision loss. Baby Kaifa Islam and her twin sister are fighting for their sight, and their parents are desperately seeking help. With a total cost of BDT 18,000 per child, this treatment is beyond the family’s reach. The father’s meager income as an electrician cannot cover the high medical expenses, especially after the recent hospital bills. The family humbly requests Helpster Charity and compassionate donors to come forward and sponsor baby Kaifa’s life-changing eye treatment. Your generous contribution can save her vision and open the door to a bright future where she can grow, learn, and see the love and beauty of the world around her. A small act of kindness today can change this child’s entire life.
