Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mehedi Hasan, a bright 12-year-old student from Dhanua village, Chandpur, is known for his cheerful spirit and love for learning. He dreams of becoming a teacher to help children in his village, but his health is now at risk due to a granuloma (chalazion) in his right eye, which causes pain and blurred vision. His father, Abdul Mannan, a day laborer earning only 8,000 Taka per month, struggles to provide for his wife and four children, making it impossible to afford the 22,500 Taka surgery Mehedi urgently needs. Without treatment, his condition could worsen, leading to permanent vision loss and jeopardizing his education and future. The family, supported by Helpster Charity through Nasima Akter, is appealing for help so Mehedi can recover his sight and continue pursuing his dream of a brighter future.

Medical history

Mehedi Hasan, a 12-year-old boy, required urgent treatment due to a granuloma in his right eye that was causing discomfort and affecting his vision. To prevent further complications and restore clear eyesight, he underwent an excision of granuloma surgery under anesthesia, performed by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital. The procedure went smoothly, and Mehedi was closely monitored throughout the treatment to ensure a safe recovery. Following the surgery, Mehedi experienced significant relief from discomfort and his visual acuity improved steadily. He can now see clearly and comfortably, allowing him to return to his normal activities with confidence. His recovery progress has been encouraging, bringing great relief to his family. This successful outcome has given Mehedi a brighter future and renewed hope. Heartfelt thanks to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for their invaluable support in restoring Mehedi’s vision.

Prognosis

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman Talukder, Senior Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Mehedi requires immediate surgical intervention under proper medical supervision. The surgery will safely remove the granuloma, relieve the inflammation, and restore his normal vision. With timely treatment, Mehedi is expected to make a complete recovery and live a healthy, active life. However, the doctors have also cautioned that delaying surgery could lead to further complications such as chronic infection, damage to the eyelid structure, or permanent visual problems. Early surgical management is therefore essential to prevent the condition from worsening and to safeguard Mehedi’s future.
