Emon Hossain, a 6-year-old boy, has been diagnosed with hypospadias—a condition where the opening of the urethra is not at the usual position—and a urethrocutaneous (UC) fistula, which developed following a previous urethroplasty (surgical repair of the urethra). Additionally, he has a left-sided inguinal hernia, where part of the abdominal tissue protrudes through the groin area. His condition requires careful medical evaluation and surgical management to restore normal urinary function and repair the hernia safely.

Background
Six-year-old Emon Hossain was born in a poor village in Bangladesh to loving parents who dreamed of seeing him grow up to be a doctor. From birth, he suffered from a urinary problem and swelling in his groin, but his parents, who survive on daily wages, could not afford the costly surgery he needed. Despite his illness, Emon remained a cheerful and bright child, always curious and full of hope, bringing smiles to everyone around him. His parents watched helplessly as his condition worsened—without surgery, he risked severe infections, lifelong pain, and difficulty passing urine normally. Just when all hope seemed lost, Helpster Charity stepped in, giving this little boy a chance to heal and continue chasing his dreams.
Medical history
The patient named Emon Hossain is financially very poor. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, where they learned about Helpster Charity. Later, the patient was brought to Modern Hospital with the help of a volunteer from Helpster and was admitted on October 11, 2025. He had two medical problems. The patient complained of dribbling of urine from the ventral surface of the penis since birth, along with pain and swelling in the left inguinal region since birth. We consulted the doctor, who advised that surgery was necessary. Both surgeries were performed at the same time. After being kept under close observation in the hospital for six days, his condition improved significantly. On October 18, 2025, he was discharged from the hospital in good health and returned home.
Prognosis
The doctor’s prognosis for Emon Hossain is positive, as repair of the urethrocutaneous (UC) fistula along with left-sided herniotomy is expected to restore normal urinary function and prevent further complications. Successful surgery should allow the child to urinate properly and improve both comfort and confidence as he grows. If left untreated, the UC fistula could lead to persistent urine leakage, recurrent infections, and skin irritation, while the inguinal hernia might worsen or become strangulated, posing serious health risks. With timely surgical intervention and proper postoperative care, Emon is expected to recover well and lead a healthy, active life.
