Brinnah is a two-year-old boy from a humble family of six facing severe financial hardship. His mother works tirelessly, moving from house to house doing laundry to earn a small income - just enough to feed her children. However, her earnings are too little to cover school fees or other basic necessities. The children’s father abandoned the family after a domestic dispute, leaving the mother to care for all the children on her own. They currently live together in a single rented room under very difficult living conditions. Brinnah’s mother was introduced to Helpster by one of our staff members who was touched by the family’s struggles and the child’s health condition. With the support of our team, the mother was guided to the hospital, where Brinnah received immediate medical attention and was admitted for care. The mother had brought the child to the facility with a painful swelling on the chin that had persisted for over five months, following a previously healed burn wound. The child was very irritable and the swelling was very painful on touch. The child did not want the swelling to be touched. Upon examination, the child was diagnosed with hypertrophic scarring. The medical team recommended surgical excision, which was successfully carried out.

Brinnah was brought in the hospital by her mother with complains of a very painful swollen chin as a result of previous scars. He was examined and diagnosed with hypertrophic scars, medical team recommended for excision to be done. The surgery was successful, he is stable and doing well and discharged.

With appropriate surgical excision and scar management, the affected tissues can be restored, allowing for improved function and appearance. Brinnah is expected to recover well and lead a normal life; therefore, the overall prognosis is good.
