Elphas is a 3-year-old boy living with his parents in a small rented house within a low-income community. He is a cheerful and playful child who enjoys simple activities like playing with toy cars and spending time with neighborhood friends. Despite their challenges, his bright personality and friendly nature make him a joy to those around him. Elphas comes from a financially struggling family. His father does casual labor and small jobs, while his mother occasionally takes on odd jobs to supplement the family’s income. Their earnings are irregular and barely sufficient to meet basic needs such as food, rent, and other essentials. As a result, they cannot afford medical care or hospitalization when needed. Elphas had been suffering from a recurrent cough accompanied by chest pain, difficulty in breathing, and fever. His condition worsened, and he began vomiting everything he ate. Due to financial constraints, he had only received herbal remedies and occasional over-the-counter medication at home. One of the beneficiaries of Helpster Charity Organization, moved by the family’s situation, advised Elphas’s mother to visit Bulondo Health Centre, where the organization supports underprivileged families with free medical care. Upon arrival, Elphas was admitted immediately and received the necessary medical attention and support.

Elphas was diagnosed with pneumonia and treatment involved a short hospital stay , intravenous fluids, antibiotics was give and careful monitoring by hospital doctor . Within a few days, his condition began to improve. His energy returned, his smile came back, and soon he was running around the hospital compound—just like any happy three-year-old should. Today, Elphas is fully recovered and back home with his family. His mother expressed her deepest gratitude to Helpster Charity Organization, saying, “I can’t thank Helpster enough for saving my son’s life. Without their support, I don’t know what I would have done. They gave my child a second chance, and I’ll be forever grateful.”

Elphas’s prognosis is favorable because he will now be given proper medical care. Although he presented with severe symptoms which have been present for quite some time - recurrent cough, chest pain, fever, vomiting, and breathing difficulties - his condition will improve significantly since the appropriate diagnosis will be made, and he will be issued with the right antibiotic therapy and supportive treatment.
