Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Zitah is a one-year-old girl from a family of three living in a rented house. Her mother runs a small business that brings in about 3,000 shillings a month, just enough to keep the family going. They rely on water from a nearby borehole. Zita began feeling unwell with loss of appetite, dizziness, joint pains, and fever. Her mother first bought over-the-counter medication, but Zita’s condition continued to worsen. She became weak, lethargic, and noticeably uncomfortable, prompting her mother to rush her to the health centre. A community health promoter, aware of their financial struggles, informed her about Helpster Charity, and she quickly took Zita to Mechimeru Health Centre for proper treatment. On arrival, Zita was in poor condition and was diagnosed with sepsis.
Medical history
Zitah was diagnosed with Sepsis and admitted to the hospital ward. She received antibiotics for three days. Once her condition improved and she was stable, she was discharged. Zitah is grateful to Helpster Charity Heroes for helping her access the medication she needed.
Prognosis
Zita’s prognosis is good, provided she continues to receive timely and appropriate treatment. Children often recover well when sepsis is identified early and managed with the right antibiotics, fluids, and supportive care.
