Nupur Akter, a 22-year-old housewife, is a gentle and hopeful woman who dreams of a happy life with her husband, Ruhul Amin, and their 10-year-old son, Nahid. Ruhul works hard as a rickshaw puller, earning only ৳6,000 a month — barely enough to feed his small family, let alone cover hospital expenses. When Nupur’s labour became complicated and her baby showed signs of distress, they rushed from the Upazila Health Complex to Shaheda Gofur Ibrahim General Hospital after hours of failed home delivery attempts. There, a hospital staff member told them about Helpster, an organization that could support them in this emergency. Without this help, both Nupur and her unborn child’s lives would be at serious risk, leaving Ruhul and Nahid facing an unbearable loss.

After experiencing severe labour pain for more than 10 hours at 38+ weeks of gestation, Nupur Akter, a 22-year-old, arrived at our hospital on 13th October 2025 at 1:30 PM. A detailed assessment was immediately initiated. Clinical examination and ultrasonography confirmed obstructed labour with fetal distress, indicating that both mother and baby were at high risk. Due to her previous LUCS and the current obstetric complications, a normal delivery was unsafe and contraindicated. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the medical team prepared for an emergency Lower Uterine Segment Cesarean Section (LUCS) without delay. The surgery was successfully performed, resulting in the safe birth of a healthy newborn. Postoperatively, both mother and baby remained stable, and no complications were noted during their hospital stay. With continued monitoring, proper post-operative care, and support, Nupur made a smooth recovery. The mother and her baby were fit for discharge and released home in stable condition on 16th October 2025. Nupur’s family expressed their deepest gratitude to Helpster Heroes and the entire healthcare team for providing timely, life-saving medical intervention that ensured a positive outcome for both mother and child.

Performing LUCS is the best and most effective intervention to prevent life-threatening complications such as oxygen deprivation, fetal death, uterine rupture, and severe maternal exhaustion. in this condition like obstructed labour. Prompt surgical delivery will help ensure the baby is born safely and protect the mother from further risks. However, if this procedure is delayed or remains unavailable due to financial limitations, the condition could rapidly worsen, leading to stillbirth or critical harm to the mother. Therefore, LUCS is considered a life-saving intervention for both mother and child in this emergency situation
