Baby Al Amin Sheikh, a fragile and gentle one-month-old premature boy, was born into a poor but loving family who struggle to meet even their daily needs on his father’s small income of just 6,500 taka per month. After fighting for his life in the NICU for 15 days—with high-flow oxygen for seven days—he is now battling Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a condition that threatens to steal his eyesight forever. His parents, already caring for his 3-year-old sister and living in a tiny tin-shed house without proper electricity or basic facilities, simply cannot afford the 18,000 taka urgently needed for his eye treatment. Without this treatment, Al Amin may become permanently blind, losing the chance to grow up seeing the world his parents dream for him. Despite their hardship, his mother and father cling to hope, praying that Helpster will help save their little boy’s precious vision and give him a brighter future.

Al Amin Sheikh, a 1-month-old baby girl, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that posed a serious risk to her developing vision. Immediate treatment was necessary to prevent long-term damage, and she received Anti-VEGF injections administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The procedure was carried out with great care, and her condition was closely observed through regular follow-up visits. She responded positively to the treatment, with gradual improvement seen in her retinal condition. The abnormal blood vessel growth has now been brought under control. Her retinal health is improving steadily, giving hope for normal vision development. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, baby Al Amin Sheikh urgently requires Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes, followed by regular follow-up examinations. The doctors have explained that with timely treatment, there is a strong chance of saving Al Amin’s vision and allowing his eyes to develop normally. However, if the treatment is delayed or not done due to financial barriers, the abnormal blood vessel growth could lead to retinal scarring and detachment, resulting in complete and permanent blindness. The doctors have emphasized the critical importance of early intervention, as this short window of opportunity can determine whether Al Amin will grow up able to see his parents’ faces, learn, play, and live a full life — or face a lifetime of darkness.
