Tayef Patwary is a fragile one-month-old premature baby who survived critical days in the NICU, but now faces the threat of permanent blindness due to Retinopathy of Prematurity in both eyes. His father, Masud Patwary, is a carpenter with an unstable monthly income of around 6,000 BDT, which must support a family of six, including Tayef’s twin brother Ayef—who suffers from the same condition—and two school-going siblings, Mahinoor and Nafis. After borrowing heavily to afford life-saving NICU treatment, the family has no remaining resources to pay for the urgent eye injections needed to save their babies’ vision. Without timely treatment, Tayef and his twin risk losing their eyesight forever, condemning them to a lifetime of disability and dependence. Despite living in poverty, the parents remain loving, devoted, and determined to fight for their children’s future, but they cannot do so without support.

Tayef Patwary, a 1-month-old baby girl, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that required urgent intervention to protect her developing vision. To control the abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels, Anti-VEGF injections were administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carried out with great care, and her condition was closely monitored through follow-up visits. Tayef responded well to the injections, showing steady improvement in her retinal condition. The abnormal blood vessel growth is now under control, and her retinal health has improved significantly. With continued monitoring, doctors remain hopeful that she will develop clear and healthy vision as she grows. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, baby Tayef Patwary urgently requires Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes followed by careful monitoring and follow-up visits. The doctors have stated that if the injections are administered promptly, Tayef’s vision can be preserved and fully restored, giving him the chance to grow up with normal eyesight. However, they have also cautioned that any delay in treatment will allow the disease to progress rapidly, resulting in permanent retinal damage and total blindness. The prognosis is excellent with immediate treatment but devastating without intervention. Through timely financial assistance and medical care, baby Tayef has an excellent chance to lead a healthy, independent, and fulfilling life. Without help, his world will remain in darkness forever.
