Aman Ullah is an 8-month-old premature baby boy born extremely underweight to a poor family in a rural village, where his father, Fahad Hossain, struggles to support the entire household on an uncertain daily labor income of around BDT 8,000 per month. His mother, Shima Akter, is a devoted caregiver who spends her days protecting her fragile child while also caring for elderly in-laws, despite living in severe hardship. Due to poverty, the family could not afford timely eye checkups after Aman’s early oxygen treatment, and he was later diagnosed with a serious eye disease that now threatens his vision. If Aman does not receive urgent treatment, he faces the risk of permanent blindness, which would affect his entire life from infancy. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, a counselor from the hospital’s pediatric unit, giving them hope to save their child’s eyesight and future.

Aman Ullah, an 8-month-old baby girl, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that posed a serious risk to her developing vision. Timely intervention was necessary to prevent further damage, and she received Anti-VEGF injections administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment was carried out with great care, and her progress was closely monitored through regular follow-ups. Aman responded well to the therapy, showing gradual improvement in her retinal condition. The abnormal blood vessel growth has now been successfully controlled. Her retina is stabilizing, and there is strong hope that she will develop clear vision as she continues to grow. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, baby Aman requires immediate Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes, followed by close medical monitoring to ensure normal retinal development. The doctors have emphasized that if the treatment is provided promptly, Aman’s eyesight can be fully restored, allowing him to see, learn, and live a normal, healthy life. However, if left untreated, his condition may quickly progress to retinal detachment, leading to irreversible blindness in both eyes. The doctors strongly recommend immediate intervention to preserve his vision and prevent lifelong disability.
