The current pregnancy is complicated by a breech presentation, where the baby is positioned feet or buttocks first instead of head down. Happy Begum, a 28-year-old mother of a two-year-old son, lives with her extended family of thirteen in a small tin house. Her husband, recently unemployed, once earned only 8,000 BDT per month, leaving the family in deep financial hardship. Despite these struggles, Happy is a kind, cheerful, and determined woman who dreams of giving birth to a healthy baby and building a better life for her children. Now 28 weeks pregnant with a breech presentation and a history of previous cesarean section and poor obstetric outcomes, she urgently needs specialist care to avoid life-threatening complications. Without timely treatment, both she and her unborn child face the risk of fetal distress, uterine rupture, or stillbirth.
Medical history
Happy Begum, a gynecology patient, was admitted on 04.12.2025 at 36 weeks of pregnancy with lower abdominal pain, complicated by a breech presentation. On 04.12.2025, she successfully underwent a cesarean operation and gave birth to a healthy baby. Both mother and baby remained stable and were discharged on 07.12.2025 with proper advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, Abdullah Hospital, and Dr. Nusaiba Tasnim for their kind support and excellent care throughout the process.
Prognosis
Given the patient’s bad obstetric history and current breech presentation at 28 weeks of pregnancy, close monitoring and a carefully planned Caesarean Section are essential. If left untreated or unmanaged, breech presentation can increase the risk of complications during delivery, such as umbilical cord prolapse or birth trauma. Due to the prior cesarean section and obstetric history, a repeat cesarean delivery is likely recommended to reduce maternal and fetal risks. With appropriate prenatal care and delivery planning, the chances of a healthy outcome for both mother and baby can be significantly improved.
