Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Rebecca is the fifth of nine children. She works as a waitress in a local canteen in our neighborhood, assisting the caterer since she is not formally employed. She completed secondary school three years ago and has since been moving from one place to another in search of employment. Due to financial constraints, she has been unable to further her education. Rebecca presented with complaints of abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever. The abdominal pain had been intermittent but became constant two days ago. It was associated with episodes of vomiting. Upon presentation at our hospital, and after further clinical evaluation, she was diagnosed with Acute Appendicitis

Medical history

She was evaluated clinically and diagnosed with acute appendicitis, after which she underwent an appendectomy (surgical removal of the inflamed appendix). The surgery was successful, and she recovered well. Her pain and infection were resolved, and she was able to return to normal activities without complications. Rebecca and her family are happy and grateful to Helpster Charity for the free surgery

Prognosis

With prompt surgical intervention (appendectomy) and appropriate postoperative care, Rebecca's prognosis is favorable. Early diagnosis and treatment are expected to lead to full recovery without complications. However, delay in management could increase the risk of perforation, peritonitis, or abscess formation.
