Zahanara Khatun, a 23-year-old woman currently at 38 weeks of gestation, has been diagnosed with a breech presentation, where the fetus is positioned with the pelvis or feet downward instead of the head. This abnormal fetal position increases the risk of several serious complications during labor and delivery, including: Umbilical cord prolapse, which can cut off oxygen supply to the baby, Birth trauma due to difficult vaginal delivery of the baby's head, Fetal distress or stillbirth if the condition is not managed promptly, Emergency cesarean delivery, which carries its own set of risks for both mother and baby.

Background
Zahanara Khatun is a gentle, resilient homemaker who continues to face hardship with patience and hope, even as her family of five survives on a monthly income of only 5,000 taka earned by her elderly farmer father-in-law, Abul Hossain. Her husband, Md. Samiul Islam, is still unemployed, making it impossible for the family to afford the medical costs needed for her pregnancy complications. Now over 36 weeks pregnant and suffering from lower abdominal pain, Zahanara has been diagnosed with a breech presentation, which requires careful medical management to ensure a safe delivery. If she does not receive proper treatment, both her life and the life of her unborn child could be at serious risk, including the possibility of life-threatening complications during childbirth. Despite fear and uncertainty, Zahanara remains brave and determined, holding onto hope for a healthy baby and a better future for her family, including her mother-in-law Saleha Begum and young student brother-in-law Al Kaium.
Medical history
Zahanara Khatun was admitted to the hospital on October 22, 2025, with a diagnosis of breech presentation. On the same day, she had a successful cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Both mother and newborn were discharged on October 26, 2025, in good health. Her husband came to the hospital to receive her and their child. The family expressed their gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic and Bablu Abdullah for their treatment and support. Prognosis
Doctors have advised LUCS (Lower Uterine Cesarean Section) as the safest treatment option for Zahanara due to the breech position of the baby and her advanced stage of pregnancy. With timely LUCS, the procedure is expected to result in the safe delivery of a healthy baby while protecting Zahanara from severe labor complications, excessive bleeding, or uterine rupture. The surgery will greatly improve the chances of survival and long-term well-being for both mother and child, allowing the baby to begin life without birth-related trauma. However, if the child is left untreated and labor begins naturally in a breech position, there is a high risk of oxygen deprivation, birth injury, or even death of the baby, as well as life-threatening complications for the mother. Early intervention through LUCS is therefore critical to ensuring a safe outcome for this family.
