Background
Amena Khatun, a calm and kind-hearted woman, lives with her husband, who earns only 6,000 taka a month as a day laborer, in a small camp alongside her mother-in-law, a teenage brother-in-law, and a young sister-in-law. Despite their financial struggles, Amena remains devoted to her family, finding joy in cooking and creating a peaceful home. Recently, in her 38th week of pregnancy, she began experiencing lower abdominal pain and decreased fetal movements. An ultrasound revealed severe oligohydramnios, a critical condition that threatens both her and her baby’s lives if not treated promptly. Unable to afford the necessary medical care, Amena learned about Helpster Charity through a medical camp and reached out in the hope of receiving support to ensure a safe delivery and protect her child’s future.
Medical history
Amena was admitted to the hospital on 20.10.2025 with complaints of lower abdominal pain, decreased fetal movement, and per vaginal watery discharge. After thorough evaluation, she was diagnosed with fetal distress and oligohydramnios, conditions that required urgent medical intervention to prevent complications. The doctors decided to perform an immediate lower uterine cesarean section (LUCS), which was successfully done. The surgery went smoothly, and a healthy baby was delivered safely. Following the procedure, Amena received proper post-operative care, including medication, monitoring, and nutritional support. Under continuous medical supervision, her condition improved steadily. She recovered well without any complications and was discharged on 23.10.2025 in good health, feeling relieved and grateful that both she and her baby were safe.
Prognosis
According to the doctor’s prognosis, an emergency Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) is the best treatment option for Amena Khatun’s condition. This procedure can safely deliver the baby and prevent life-threatening complications arising from severe oligohydramnios and fetal distress. With timely intervention, both the mother and child have a high chance of recovery and survival. However, if left untreated, the baby may suffer from oxygen deprivation, growth restriction, or even stillbirth, while Amena herself could face serious health risks during labor. Prompt surgical delivery is therefore essential to save both lives and ensure a stable recovery.
