A left-sided congenital inguinoscrotal hernia is a condition present since birth, where a part of the intestine protrudes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal wall into the scrotum on the left side. This causes visible swelling, pain, and discomfort, especially during movement or physical activity.

Background
Rahim is a bright, cheerful 8-year-old who loves to draw and dream about becoming a businessman, but his laughter now hides daily pain that makes it hard for him to sit, walk, or play. His father earns a small and uncertain income as a street hawker, and with a rented home to maintain and a family of five to support—including Rahim’s mother, grandfather, and younger brother—the cost of surgery is far beyond their reach. Despite his discomfort, Rahim remains curious and hopeful, often sketching pictures beside his brother while his mother and grandfather worry silently about his health. If this hernia is not treated in time, it could trap his intestine, cut off blood supply, cause severe complications, and put his young life at risk. Medical history
Md. Rahim was admitted with a left-sided congenital inguinoscrotal hernia on 21.11.2025. After initial assessment and stabilization, he was prepared for surgery. A herniotomy was performed on 22.11.2025, and the operation was successful, with the hernia safely corrected and no postoperative complications observed. Following the surgery, he received proper medical management, continuous monitoring, and attentive nursing care, which helped ensure a smooth recovery. His condition improved steadily, and he remained stable throughout the postoperative period. By 24.11.2025, he had recovered well enough to be discharged. The successful operation, along with timely treatment and quality care, contributed to his safe and healthy recovery.
Prognosis
The doctor has recommended a left-sided congenital inguinoscrotal herniotomy under general anesthesia (GA) as the safest treatment option for Rahim. The condition could also lead to serious complications such as bowel obstruction or strangulation. However, if herniotomy is performed, the swelling and discomfort will be resolved, allowing him to move freely, return to school, and lead a normal, active life. The surgery would greatly improve his health and overall quality of life.
