Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

LIFE CARE HOSPITAL & DIAGNOSTIC CENTER

Roumari, Kurigram

Background

Emran Hasan, a bright and energetic 14-year-old boy from a humble village family, dreams of continuing his studies and helping his parents one day. His father, Sofer Ali, works as a low-paid 4th-grade employee at a local madrasha, earning only 8,500 taka a month to support his wife Nazma Khatun and their three children. When Emran was diagnosed with acute appendicitis, the family was devastated, as they could barely afford daily meals, let alone the cost of emergency surgery. Despite their financial struggles, his father rushed to get him medical help, fearing the appendix might burst at any moment. Without urgent treatment, Emran’s life would have been in grave danger — but with proper care, he now has the hope of recovering and returning to school to chase his dreams.

Medical history

Emran Hasan was very scared when he went to the hospital, but his appendectomy was successful, and he is now recovering well at home. The severe pain is gone, and he can eat, move, and rest comfortably. Emran has started feeling energetic again and is looking forward to returning to school and playing with his friends. He says he feels relieved, strong, and happy after his safe surgery.

Prognosis

Doctors have explained that with timely surgery, Emran has an excellent chance of making a full recovery and returning to a normal, healthy life. The operation will remove the infected appendix and prevent the spread of infection to other parts of his body. However, if the condition is left untreated, the appendix could burst, leading to severe infection, sepsis, and potentially life-threatening complications. Immediate medical intervention is therefore crucial to save his life. With proper treatment and post-surgical care, Emran is expected to regain his strength and resume his studies and daily activities soon.
