Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Margaret is a quiet and hardworking girl who lives with her guardian, whom she calls her aunt. Since childhood, she has not known her mother, who left when Margaret was an infant. Although she knows where her father lives, he has never taken care of her. Margaret enjoys playing netball and dreams of becoming a teacher after completing her studies. She began feeling unwell one night, experiencing abdominal pain, watery diarrhea, headache, and vomiting. The following morning, she felt weak and was taken to the hospital by her schoolmates, as she had already left home for school. After receiving treatment, Margaret fully recovered. However, since no family member came to settle her hospital bill due to financial constraints, her teacher approached the hospital administration for assistance, and she was informed about Helpster Charity.

Medical history

Margaret was brought to our facility when she was sick looking and weak.Samples were taken and laboratory investigations were done and a diagnosis of Malaria and Amoebiasis were made. She responded well to medications and has recovered and gone back to do her end year exams and her normal duty chores.

Prognosis

Margaret is responding well to treatment. With continued good nutrition, hydration, and follow-up as advised, her prognosis is excellent, and no long-term complications are expected.
