Background
Rabeya Khatun is a gentle and devout 25-year-old woman whose faith shapes her character, guiding her to live with patience, kindness, and deep compassion. She and her husband, a mosque muezzin earning only 5,000 taka a month, struggle to support their family of six — including their child, another young family member, and her elderly in-laws — leaving them unable to afford essential medical care. Now 36 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with oligohydramnios, along with the risks from her previous LUCS scar, Rabeya faces a dangerous situation that could lead to fetal distress or serious complications during delivery if left untreated. Without timely intervention, both her life and the life of her unborn child could be in grave danger. Learning about Helpster Charity through a leaflet gave the family a glimmer of hope, offering the chance for the lifesaving treatment they otherwise could never afford.
Medical history
Rabeya Khatun, a second gravida with 36 weeks and 2 days of pregnancy and a history of previous LUCS, was admitted to the hospital on 02.10.2025 with complaints of lower abdominal pain and scar tenderness. She was diagnosed with oligohydramnios, a condition of reduced amniotic fluid that can pose serious risks to both mother and baby. Considering her condition, the doctors decided to perform an immediate operation to ensure the safety of both. The surgery was successfully carried out under the supervision of a skilled medical team. After the operation, Rabeya was kept under close medical and nursing care, where her vital signs, wound condition, and baby’s health were continuously monitored. She received proper medication, fluid management, and post-operative care, which helped her recover steadily. After significant improvement and stable health condition, Rabeya was discharged on 05.10.2025 in a well and healthy state along with her baby.
Prognosis
The doctor has recommended a Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) under spinal anesthesia (SAB) as the safest treatment option for Rabeya. If timely surgical intervention is not done, the condition may lead to obstructed labor or even intrauterine fetal death (IUFD) because of inadequate oxygen and nutrition to the baby. However, if an immediate LUCS is performed, it can prevent these complications, ensuring the survival and safety of both mother and baby.
