Most Safla Khatun is a 38-week pregnant woman with a single live intrauterine fetus in transverse lie and associated oligohydramnios. A transverse presentation means the baby is lying horizontally across the uterus, making vaginal delivery impossible and increasing the risk of cord prolapse and obstructed labor. Oligohydramnios, characterized by a markedly reduced amount of amniotic fluid (largest pocket less than 1 cm), further complicates the condition by limiting fetal movements and increasing the chance of fetal distress.

Background
Most Safla Khatun is a 26-year-old housewife, currently in the final stage of her first pregnancy, living with her husband Md. Kazinul Islam, a farmer with a monthly income of only 7,000 taka, and his elderly parents Md. Kolimuddin and Mst. Kajoli Begum. The family struggles to meet daily needs, making it impossible for them to arrange the cost of hospital treatment. She learned about Helpster Charity from another patient, Parvin Khatun, who had previously received support, and then contacted Bablu Abdullah to share her health condition and financial hardship. After visiting the Mother Clinic due to ongoing lower abdominal pain and discharge, she was advised that urgent medical care is needed for safe delivery. Without timely treatment, there is a serious risk to both the mother and the unborn baby, which could lead to life-threatening complications for the entire family.
Medical history
Mrs. Most Safla Khatun was admitted to the hospital on October 20, 2025, with a diagnosis of term pregnancy (38 weeks) complicated by transverse presentation and oligohydramnios. Considering the fetal malpresentation, low amniotic fluid volume, an elective lower segment cesarean section (LSCS) was performed on the same day. The surgery was successful, and she delivered a healthy baby with no intraoperative or postoperative complications. Both the mother and newborn recovered well under hospital supervision and were discharged in good health on October 25, 2025. Her mother came to the hospital to receive them and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, Mother Clinic, and Bablu Abdullah for their excellent care and support. The family was particularly thankful to Helpster for the financial assistance provided during the treatment.
Prognosis
Doctors have advised LUCS as the safest treatment option for Most Safla Khatun due to the abnormal position of the baby and the very low amount of fluid around it. With timely surgery, the baby can be delivered safely, greatly reducing the risk of birth injury, oxygen shortage, or loss of the baby, while also protecting the mother from serious delivery complications. Successful LUCS will allow Safla to recover properly and care for her newborn and family. If this condition is left untreated and labor starts naturally, the baby may become trapped or distressed, leading to life-threatening outcomes. Delaying surgery could put both the mother’s and the baby’s lives at severe risk.
