Background
Mst. Ruma Khatun is a gentle and hardworking housewife living with her elderly parents and young daughter, Lamiya, while her family survives on a very limited monthly income of only 7,000 taka earned through day labor. She enjoys cooking and dreams of a safe delivery and a healthy baby, but the family is still burdened by debt from her previous surgery, which was managed through a loan from a local NGO. At 36–37 weeks of pregnancy, she developed concerning symptoms, and medical tests showed a serious condition that requires urgent care. With no savings and ongoing loan repayments, her family is unable to afford the cost of treatment. Without timely medical intervention, both Ruma and her unborn baby face serious, life-threatening risks, which is why, after learning about Helpster from another patient and contacting Bablu Abdullah, the family is seeking urgent support.
Medical history
Mst Ruma Khatun was admitted to the hospital on October 23, 2025, with a diagnosis of Breech Presentation and Oligohydramnois. On the same day, she had a successful cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby. Both mother and newborn were discharged on October 28, 2025, in good health. Her mother and sister came to the hospital to receive her and their child. The family expressed their gratitude to Helpster, Mother Clinic and, Bablu Abdullah for their treatment and support. Her mother was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster.
Prognosis
Doctors have advised that LUCS is the safest and most appropriate treatment option for Mst. Ruma Khatun due to the baby’s breech position and low fluid around the fetus. Performing LUCS will allow a timely and controlled delivery, greatly reducing the risk of birth injury, breathing problems, or distress for the baby, while also protecting the mother from dangerous labor complications. With this procedure, both mother and child are expected to recover well and have a healthy future. If left untreated, prolonged labor or attempted normal delivery could result in severe complications, including lack of oxygen to the baby or life-threatening risks to the mother. Timely LUCS is therefore critical to saving lives and preventing long-term health consequences.
