Two-year-old Adib Mahmud is a cheerful and affectionate child who loves colorful toys and stories, but his world remains dark and unclear due to severe vision loss since birth. His father, Shakil Bhuiyan, a visually impaired mosque imam, earns only BDT 3,000–5,000 per month, while Adib’s mother Salma Akter stays home to care for him, leaving the family of seven struggling to survive in a tin-roofed house with no assets or savings. Doctors at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital diagnosed Adib with congenital cataracts in both eyes, and without urgent surgery, he risks permanent blindness and irreversible developmental delays. The family first learned about Helpster Charity from a government officer named Mannan and later received detailed guidance from the hospital staff. With no ability to afford the treatment on their own, Adib’s parents are desperately hoping for support to give their son the chance to see, grow, and live a life different from his father’s hardship.

Adib Mahmud, a 2-year-old boy, required urgent cataract surgery in the both eyes as the condition was significantly affecting vision development at this early age. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia on 26.12.2025 at Right eye and on 24.01.2026 at Left Eye by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure. The treatment progressed smoothly, with the medical team carefully monitoring him during and after surgery. As healing began, he showed steady improvement, responding well to the treatment plan. The cataract removal successfully restored clarity, and visual acuity improved remarkably. Now he feels much more comfortable and can see clearly, which will greatly support healthy visual growth. This positive outcome has brought immense relief and joy to the family. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Adib’s prognosis is very positive if surgery is performed immediately. The doctor emphasizes that early intervention can restore functional vision, allowing Adib to grow, learn, and interact like any other child. With surgery, he will be able to recognize faces, play independently, and eventually attend school with confidence. However, if left untreated, his condition will worsen into permanent irreversible blindness, depriving him of education and exposing him to lifelong vulnerability. Time is critical, and every day of delay reduces his chances of recovery.
