Background
Mst. Sumaiya Akter, a gentle and determined 17-year-old student, has been living with her parents since her husband abandoned her during pregnancy. Her father, the sole earner, works as a rickshaw puller and struggles to support the entire family of six on only BDT 8,000 per month, leaving them unable to afford her urgently needed medical treatment. As her pregnancy reached 37 weeks, Sumaiya developed severe lower abdominal pain and decreased fetal movement, and an ultrasound revealed that the baby is in an abnormal position requiring surgery. Without this treatment, both Sumaiya and her baby face life-threatening complications during delivery. Despite the hardship, Sumaiya remains hopeful, supported by her parents, three sisters, and younger brother, wishing only for a safe birth and a healthier future.
Medical history
Mst Sumaiya Akter was admitted to the hospital on October 26, 2025, with a diagnosis of Breech Presentation. On the same day, she had a successful cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Both mother and newborn were discharged on October 30, 2025, in good health. Her mother came to the hospital to receive her and their child. The family expressed their gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic and Bablu Abdullah for their treatment and support. Prognosis
The doctor has recommended a Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) as the safest treatment option for Mrs. Sumaiya Akter and her baby. With this procedure, the baby can be delivered safely despite the breech position and reduced fetal movement, greatly lowering the risk of birth complications or injury. A timely LUCS will protect Sumaiya from prolonged or obstructed labor and ensure the baby receives proper care immediately after birth. If left untreated, both mother and child face life-threatening risks, including fetal distress, birth trauma, and severe complications during delivery. With proper treatment, Sumaiya has a strong chance of delivering a healthy baby and recovering well.
