Shanta Moni is a 20-year-old woman in her first pregnancy who has reached 40+ weeks and is diagnosed with a post-dated pregnancy complicated by fetal distress. This means the pregnancy has gone beyond the expected delivery date, and the baby is showing signs of stress inside the womb. She has noticed reduced fetal movement, which is a serious warning sign that the baby may not be getting enough oxygen. Immediate medical care is required to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby.

Background
Shanta Moni is a gentle and caring 20-year-old pregnant housewife who dreams of a healthy future with her husband, Naeem, and their growing family. Naeem works as a van driver earning only about BDT 8,000 per month, which must support the household and Shanta’s elderly parents, making it impossible to afford emergency medical expenses. When Shanta’s pregnancy went beyond the expected date and she felt reduced fetal movement, doctors found that the baby was in distress and advised an immediate cesarean section. Without timely surgery, the unborn baby’s life could be at serious risk, and Shanta could also face dangerous complications. The family learned about Helpster Charity through miking and leaflets and is now seeking urgent support to ensure a safe delivery for both mother and child.
Medical history
After experiencing, post dated pregnancy but no labour pain & less fetal movement for 01 days, she arrived at our hospital at 3.00 PM in 24 October 2025 and doctors performed an ultrasound that revealed post dated pregnancy with fetal distress , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful female baby. Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. We discharged the patient at 10.30AM in 28th October 2025.The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.
Prognosis
The doctor has advised an immediate Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) as the safest option to protect the baby. With this timely intervention, the baby can be delivered before further distress or oxygen deprivation occurs, greatly improving the chances of a healthy outcome and preventing long-term complications. For the mother, LUCS reduces the risks associated with PPH, infection, Perineal tear, and potential labor complications due to her expected date of delivery was crossed. If the condition is left untreated, the baby faces a high risk of severe hypoxia, irreversible organ damage, Placental insufficiency, meconium aspiration, or even stillbirth. Delaying treatment could also endanger the mother’s life, making urgent surgical delivery critical for their survival and well-being.
