Background
Mst. Sharifa Begum is a kind and resilient 34-year-old homemaker who finds joy in cooking, even while living in deep poverty with her husband, a day laborer earning only 6000 taka to support their family of four. As she entered her ninth month of pregnancy, Sharifa developed severe lower abdominal pain, reduced fetal movement, constipation, and was found to have a breech presentation, which is especially dangerous because she previously underwent a cesarean section. Doctors at the government hospital warned that without an urgent C-section, the breech position and her complications could put both Sharifa and her unborn baby at serious risk of losing their lives. With barely enough income to feed the family — including her 11-year-old son and widowed sister-in-law — they had no way to afford the necessary surgery. When her husband came across a poster about Helpster’s free surgical support, it gave the family a much-needed ray of hope in their desperate situation.
Medical history
Mst. Sharifa Begum was admitted to the hospital on November 02, 2025, with a diagnosis of pregnancy with breech presentation. On the same day, she underwent a successful cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Both the mother and newborn made a smooth recovery and were discharged on November 06, 2025, in good health. Upon discharge, her husband came to receive them and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, and Bablu Abdullah for their dedicated treatment and compassionate support. Prognosis
The doctors explained that a Lower Uterine Segment Cesarean Section (LUCS) is the safest and most effective treatment for Sharifa’s condition. Because her baby is in a breech position and fetal movement has decreased, LUCS offers the best chance to deliver the baby safely without putting additional stress on the mother or child. With timely surgery, both Sharifa and her baby are expected to recover well and continue a healthy life. However, if left untreated, the baby could experience severe distress, lack of oxygen, or even life-threatening complications, while Sharifa herself could face dangerous outcomes during labor. The doctors are confident that LUCS will prevent these risks and give both mother and child the safest possible outcome.
