Omolara is the first child in a family of five and a Senior Secondary School 2 (SSS 2) student. Her boyfriend is currently nowhere to be found. Her mother had two children before separating from her first husband. She was rushed to the facility on account of severe abdominal pain initially suspected to be due to acute appendicitis. Upon presentation at our facility, and after further clinical evaluation, a diagnosis of reuptured ectopic pregnancy was made.

Omolara was diagnosed with an ovarian ectopic pregnancy, a rare form of gestational condition where the pregnancy develops on the ovary instead of the uterus. She presented with slow internal bleeding into the peritoneum. She was promptly admitted and underwent surgical intervention to remove the ectopic pregnancy and control the bleeding. The procedure was successful, and she recovered well after close monitoring. She was later discharged in stable condition with good prognosis and counseling on future reproductive health.

Omolara presented with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy as a critical surgical emergency where the primary objective is to prevent life-threatening maternal hemorrhage through rapid diagnosis. We had to perform an emergency surgery to stabilize, stop the bleeding and evacuate the pregnancy. She suffered a dangerous complication of ectopic pregnancy - when it ruptures, which leads to massive internal bleeding, hemodynamic shock, and even maternal death if not treated immediately. Other potential issues include permanent damage to the fallopian tubes, the formation of pelvic adhesions, and significant emotional or psychological distress following the loss. The prognosis is very good when the condition is attended to early.
