Background
Bithi Akhter, a gentle and hopeful 21-year-old woman, dreams only of giving birth to a healthy baby, but her family’s situation makes that difficult. With her husband recently unemployed and their only income of 5,000 BDT gone, the four family members now survive on the kindness of neighbors and relatives in their small tin-built home. Despite her strength and simple joys like cooking and singing, Bithi cannot afford the medical care she urgently needs as her pregnancy has gone past the due date. Without proper treatment, the baby could face serious complications such as lack of oxygen or distress during labor, putting both mother and child at risk. Their visit to the government hospital and learning about Helpster Charity has become their only hope for a safe delivery and a brighter future.
Medical history
Bithi Akter, a gynecology patient, was admitted on 03.11.2025 at 39 weeks of pregnancy with lower abdominal pain, complicated by a breech presentation. On 03.11.2025, she successfully underwent a cesarean operation and gave birth to a healthy baby. Both mother and baby remained stable and were discharged on 06.11.2025 with proper advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, Abdullah Hospital, and Dr. Nusaiba Tasnim for their kind support and excellent care throughout the process
Prognosis
With a post-dated pregnancy at over 39 weeks, the doctor’s prognosis is generally positive, especially with timely intervention. A senior professional performing a LUCS (Cesarean section) can greatly reduce risks to both mother and baby by ensuring a safe and controlled delivery. This treatment helps prevent complications related to prolonged pregnancy, such as reduced oxygen supply, placental insufficiency, or fetal distress. If left untreated and the pregnancy continues too long, the baby may face serious dangers including birth complications, oxygen deprivation, or even stillbirth. With proper medical care and adequate support, both mother and child are expected to have an excellent outcome.
