Trizah Wanjiru is a 16-year-old girl living at a Children’s Home. She is an orphan and resides with the other children in the home, which relies entirely on well-wishers for food, healthcare, and daily needs. Trizah enjoys playing basketball and spending time with the other children. She dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. She was brought tothe Children’s Home at the age of 14 by a local administrator after the Good Samaritan who had been caring for her relocated and could no longer continue looking after her. Attempts to trace her biological relatives have been unsuccessful. The Children’s Home learned about Helpster Charity through a site visit by Rheemah medical practitioners and later through Vincent, a Helpster volunteer. Trizah had been well and active until about a week ago when she developed painful swallowing, difficulty swallowing food, fever, headache, and general body aches. A volunteer at the home, Sarah, brought her to Rheemah Hospital for evaluation. Trizah had been to another facility earlier, when the symptoms begun, was put on oral antibiotics but there was no improvement. She was examined by the medical officer and diagnosed with acute tonsillitis. She was started on appropriate treatment and discharged the same day.

Upon arrival at Rheemah Hospital, Trizah Wanjiru presented with painful swallowing, difficulty swallowing, general body aches, and headache. She was thoroughly evaluated by the Medical Officer in charge, and following clinical assessment and relevant investigations, she was diagnosed with acute tonsillitis. Prompt treatment was initiated, including IV Ceftriaxone 1 g, Clavuline 625 mg, Doloact MR, and Rexidine mouthwash. Helpster Charity covered her medical expenses, enabling timely intervention and management. A follow-up call made three days later confirmed that she was responding well to treatment.

Trizah has an excellent prognosis following her diagnosis of acute tonsillitis. With prompt treatment already initiated, she is bound to recover fully within a few days. Since she received timely medical care and is already showing improvement, the likelihood of complications is very low.
