Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About urology
Cystolithiasis, or bladder stone, occurs when minerals in the urine crystallize and form a hard stone inside the bladder. It often develops when urine remains in the bladder for long periods, due to incomplete emptying, infection, or metabolic imbalances. Patients usually present with lower abdominal pain, difficulty or pain during urination, increased urinary frequency, and sometimes blood in the urine. In some cases, a firm mass can be felt in the lower abdomen. Untreated bladder stones can lead to recurrent urinary tract infections, bladder irritation, or kidney damage. Large stones generally require surgical removal (cystolithotomy or endoscopic extraction) to relieve symptoms and prevent complications.

Background
Musa Usman is an active and curious eight-year-old boy who enjoys playing football with his friends and helping his father at home. He is gentle, respectful, and well-loved in his community. Musa dreams of becoming a soldier one day so he can protect people and serve the nation with courage and honour. Musa had been well until about two weeks ago when he started experiencing lower abdominal pain, painful urination, and increased urinary frequency. His parents noticed that he strained before passing urine, and sometimes only small amounts came out. They also observed occasional blood-stained urine. Musa’s symptoms gradually worsened, and the pain became more intense during urination, prompting them to seek medical attention. An abdominal ultrasound confirmed the presence of a bladder stone. He is booked for cystolithotomy surgery, pending approval from the Helpster Charity Foundation.
Medical history
MUSA USMAN,an 8-year-old boy, presented with a history of Oliguria ,dysuria, hematuria accompanied by lower abdominal pain for since 2 weeks. After thorough evaluation and investigation, he was diagnosed with indwelling bladder stone. He underwent successful Cystolithotomy surgery without immediate complications. Due to the nature of his condition, he was admitted for 3 days for close monitoring and post-operative care.He recovered well and was discharged home after 3 days, with a follow-up appointment scheduled for 1 week. Currently, he is doing well, has fully recovered, and has resumed his regular activities. We appreciate the timely intervention by Helpster and the UMD Medical team.
Prognosis
Musa's bladder stone is Larger as shown in the x-ray and this stone can be difficult to get rid of it through the urethra without surgery. Large bladder stones can cause complications including recurrent urinary tract infections, urinary obstruction, chronic bladder dysfunction (pain, frequent urination, and incontinence), and even kidney damage from urine back-pressure. If left untreated, they can lead to serious health problems like bladder inflammation, chronic pain, and, in rare cases, a potential association with bladder cancer. As larger bladder stones often require treatment with procedures like lithotripsy, which uses sound waves to break the stones into smaller pieces, or surgical removal. Bladder stone can easily lodge in the urethra which is the canal for urine passage causing urine retention, unbearable pain, restlessness and in extreme situation damages the entire kidneys. Prompt treatment via surgery with medication such as antibiotics, fluids and painkiller is very essential to salvage this child and significantly improve his life.
