Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care

Baby Abu Raihan, a 4-month-old infant, has been diagnosed with pneumonia complicated by congenital heart disease, making his condition especially serious and life-threatening. Due to his heart problem, his body struggles to cope with the lung infection, leading to severe breathing difficulty, recurrent fever, and rapid physical weakness. His fragile immune system and young age place him at high risk of rapid deterioration without continuous oxygen, medication, and close monitoring. Immediate hospital care is essential to stabilize his breathing, protect his heart, and prevent fatal complications.

Thank you for saving this life!

Background

Baby Abu Raihan is a 4-month-old infant born into a struggling family where his father, Zakir Hossain, earns only 8,000 Taka a month as a courier service driver and his mother, Taslima Begum, is a housewife caring for three sons. Living in a rented house in the low-lying area of Basila, the family barely manages daily necessities, making it impossible for them to afford costly hospital treatment. Gentle and helpless, Abu Raihan’s condition worsened from a simple cough and fever to severe breathing difficulty and diarrhea, putting his fragile life at serious risk. Doctors warned that without urgent hospitalization and PICU support, his condition could rapidly become fatal. With no financial means and no hospital bed available, the family faced the terrifying possibility of losing their youngest child until Helpster volunteers stepped in to give him a fighting chance.

Medical history

Patient Abu Raihan was admitted into the this hospital on 22/11/2025 with the complaints of cough and common cold for 20 days, recurrent fever from several days, respiratory distress for 5 days, passage of loose watery stool for 3 days. And the patient was diagnosed as Pneumonia with CHD with AGE. The patient initially admitted at PICU for 2 days and then got treatment at ward for 8 days. Then the patient discharged on 30/11/2025 with Advice.

Prognosis

Doctors have explained that with timely PICU care, including continuous oxygen support, antibiotics, and proper hydration, Baby Abu Raihan has a strong chance of stabilizing and recovering from this critical phase. If his condition improves, he will be shifted to a normal bed where further evaluation of his pneumonia and congenital heart disease will guide long-term treatment and follow-up. Early and proper treatment can significantly improve his breathing, support healthy growth, and reduce future complications related to his heart condition. However, if left untreated, his infection could rapidly worsen, leading to severe respiratory failure, heart strain, and life-threatening complications. Immediate medical care is therefore crucial to protect his life and give him a chance at a healthy future.
