In her case, ultrasound shows the largest pocket of amniotic fluid is less than 1 cm, indicating that the baby has very little protective fluid around it. Amniotic fluid is essential for fetal movement, growth, and oxygen supply, and its severe reduction puts the baby at high risk of distress and complications during labor. Background
Ratna Begum is a gentle and caring housewife who looks after her two children, Rifat and Suraiya, and supports her husband Md. Saidul Mia, a day laborer who earns only 6,000 taka per month through irregular and exhausting work. With this small income, the family struggles daily to afford food, rent, and schooling, making it impossible to bear the high cost of urgent maternity treatment. Despite her poverty, Ratna is hopeful and devoted, dreaming of delivering a healthy baby and continuing to care for her family with love and patience. If she does not receive immediate medical care, severe oligohydramnios could lead to infection, fetal distress, stillbirth, or even life-threatening complications for Ratna herself. Such a loss would leave her children without a mother’s care and push the already fragile family into deeper hardship.
Medical history
Ratna Begum was admitted to the hospital on November 26, 2025, with a diagnosis ofsevere oligohydramnois. On the same day, she had a successful cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Both mother and newborn were discharged on December 01, 2025, in good health. Her husband came to the hospital to receive her and their child. Prognosis
The doctor recommends an urgent cesarean section for Ratna Begum to prevent life-threatening complications for both her and her baby. With severe oligohydramnios could result in fetal distress, stillbirth, or serious maternal complications such as uterine rupture or placental issues. A timely C-section offers the best chance of delivering a healthy baby and protecting the mother’s life. If the procedure is performed promptly mother and child are expected to recover well, with significantly reduced risks of morbidity or mortality. Without this intervention, both mother and baby face a critical situation that could have irreversible consequences.
