When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs, which may fill with fluid or pus. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi, and its symptoms include cough, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing. Treatment depends on the cause and may involve antibiotics for bacterial pneumonia or rest and fluids for viral pneumonia, with severe cases sometimes requiring hospitalization. Gastroenteritis, or "stomach flu," is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines, typically caused by a virus, bacteria, or parasite. Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and abdominal pain, which can lead to dehydration if not managed. Prevention focuses on good hygiene, such as frequent handwashing, and safe food and water practices.

Background
Braizyl is the second-born child in a family of three. She enjoys singing and modelling and dreams of becoming a professional singer one day. Braizyl lives with her grandmother and uncle in a semi-permanent house. Her two siblings live in Nairobi with their mother, who is the sole breadwinner of the family. The mother works as a house help in Nairobi, struggling to earn enough to meet the family’s basic needs. Life for Braizyl’s family is extremely difficult. Paying school fees, buying food, and meeting household expenses is a constant challenge. The little money her mother earns is stretched across rent, food, education, and medical needs, making it hard for the family to maintain a stable and dignified life. Braizyl began feeling unwell two days before coming to the hospital. She first sought help from a nearby community health volunteer, but the volunteer did not have medications to treat her condition and therefore referred her to the hospital. During this visit, Braizyl also learned about Helpster Charity, which supports underprivileged children in accessing medical care. By the time Braizyl arrived at the hospital, she was seriously ill. She had a high fever, persistent vomiting, severe body weakness, and loss of appetite. She appeared lethargic, pale, and dehydrated, with rapid breathing and difficulty standing or walking without support. Her condition clearly indicated a severe illness requiring urgent medical attention.

BRAIZYL CAME WITH COMPLAINS OF SWEATING AT NIGHT, LOSS OF APPETITE,COUGH, HEADACHE, CHEST PAINS AND DIARRHEA, MALARIA TEST WAS DONE AND WAS POSITIVE, ASOT TEST REACTED INDICATING PNEUMONIA. SHE WAS PUT ON ANTIMALARIAL AND ANTIBIOTIC INJECTIONS AND HER CONDITION IMPROVED AND WAS DISCHARGED STABLE WITH CONTINUATION WITH ORALS AT HOME
Prognosis
Braizyl’s prognosis is good with timely and appropriate treatment. Pneumonia and gastroenteritis are serious conditions, especially when they occur together, but early medical intervention significantly improves recovery. With antibiotics, rehydration therapy, and supportive care, her fever, breathing difficulty, vomiting, and weakness are expected to gradually resolve. As she responds to treatment, her strength and appetite are likely to improve, and she is expected to make a full recovery without long-term complications.
