Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About blood
Severe malaria: A serious form of malaria where the infection causes high fever, weakness, and can affect vital organs, potentially leading to life-threatening complications if not treated quickly. Anemia: A condition where the blood has too few healthy red blood cells, causing tiredness, weakness, and paleness. Amoebic dysentery: A type of intestinal infection caused by a parasite, leading to diarrhea, stomach pain, and sometimes dehydration.

Background
Joyce is the youngest of seven children and lives with both parents, who are small-scale farmers. The family depends largely on their farm produce to earn a modest income, which they use to support basic needs, including school fees. They reside in a small, two-room house with mud walls and a cow-dung-smeared floor, covered with corrugated iron sheets. Their source of drinking water is a stream located a 30-minute walk away. Recently, Joyce developed high fevers, chills, and profound weakness. She also had fatigue and pallor and had bloody diarrhoea which made her very weak. Her mother kept on giving her herbal concoctions, hoping that she will get better A friend aware of Helpster Charity, an organization that provides free medical care to children in need, referred Joyce to Bulondo Health Centre. This timely referral was essential, as her condition had become too serious to manage at home. At Bulondo Health Centre, Joyce was thoroughly assessed and started on treatment.
Medical history
Joyce suffered from severe malaria, anaemia, and amoebic dysentery, but Helpster connected her to free medical care. She received urgent treatment including IV antimalarials, a blood transfusion, and antibiotics. With full medical support and monitoring, her symptoms cleared, her blood levels improved, and she made a complete recovery.
Prognosis
Though abit delayed, Joyce is now receiving appropriate medical care including antimalarial treatment, rehydration, nutritional support, and management of anemia. Joyce is expected to gradually recover. Her condition, while serious, is treatable, and with continued monitoring and supportive care, she should regain strength, resolve the infection, and return to her normal activities over time. Early intervention significantly improves her chances of a full recovery.
