Meet Zuriel, a bright-eyed 2-year-old bundle of energy who's capturing hearts with her infectious smile and joyful spirit. Living with her devoted teacher parents in a room and palour apartment in Karji, a small village in Kaduna state. Zuriel's love for singing, dancing, and helping others is a breath of fresh air. Despite struggling to breathe normally, this little one refuses to let anything dampen her enthusiasm. The child is yet to begin school until later in year 2026. Zuriel's journey began with subtle whispers of distress. As a few months old, her parents noticed she struggled to breathe, but they brushed it off as a normal phase, unaware of the silent battle she was fighting. As she grew, her symptoms intensified, and the pain became more evident. Her parents' hearts ached as they witnessed their little one suffer. A hospital visit finally confirmed the diagnosis of Adenotonsillitis, a condition requiring surgery. However, the family's limited financial means left them feeling hopeless, and they were forced to return home, watching their child struggle with each passing day. The nights are the hardest as Cold seasons exacerbate her condition, and the family resorts to using inhalers, praying for relief. Due to the swelling and repeated infections of the Adenoids and Tonsils, she always struggles to breath and the congestion makes it challenging. On presentation at our hospital and having heard of Helpster Charity, Zuriel's family is hopeful of getting free surgery upon Helpster's approval.

Blessed Zuriel, a 2-year-old girl, was managed for recurrent adenotonsillitis and reviewed by the ENT team who planned her for surgery. After pre-op investigations including X-ray PNS, FBC, U/E/Cr and clotting profile, she had an adenotonsillectomy under general anesthesia on 27/6/2026 which was well tolerated. While on admission she received IV amoxiclav and IV analgesics, and was discharged on oral antibiotics, analgesics, and otrivin nasal drops. She has made significant recovery, has resumed her usual activities, and is now breathing comfortably with no difficulties.

Zuriel, a mere two years old, faces a relentless battle with recurrent respiratory distress - a haunting cycle of snoring and labored breathing caused by dangerously swollen adenoids. While medications offer fleeting relief, the symptoms persist with a vengeance, stealthily compromising the child’s airway and threatening his well-being. This is not a minor ailment; it is a critical, time-sensitive medical crisis demanding urgent surgical intervention (adenotonsillectomy) to prevent catastrophic breathing obstructions. Untreated, this condition can spiral into sleep apnea, chronic oxygen deprivation, or even heart strain. With timely surgery, the prognosis transforms dramatically. Post-operative outcomes are overwhelmingly positive, with symptoms typically vanishing and Zuriel poised to reclaim a healthy, vibrant childhood.
