Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About gynecology

Mim Akhter is a 38-week pregnant woman with a single viable fetus who has been diagnosed with oligohydramnios and fetal distress. Oligohydramnios is a serious pregnancy complication characterized by an abnormally low amount of amniotic fluid, with the largest vertical pocket measuring less than 1 cm on ultrasound. This condition suggests decreased placental function or impaired fetal urine production and poses significant risks, including umbilical cord compression, intrauterine growth restriction, and fetal hypoxia. The presence of fetal distress at term, combined with oligohydramnios, indicates a critical obstetric emergency.

Background

Mim Akhter is a 38-week pregnant housewife from an extremely poor family who is suffering from lower abdominal pain, per vaginal watery discharge, decreased fetal movement, and oligohydramnios, making her pregnancy high-risk and in need of urgent medical care. Her husband, Md. Nazmul Islam, is a physically challenged day laborer earning only 6,000 taka per month, while he also supports his elderly father, Md. Nur Mollah Islam, and disabled sister, Chaina Begum, leaving the family unable to bear treatment expenses. When Mim sought care at the hospital, medical staff informed the family about Helpster Charity due to their financial hardship. Following this, Mim contacted Bablu Abdullah, who visited their home, assessed their poverty, and guided them to submit the necessary documents for further evaluation and assistance. Without timely treatment, the reduced amniotic fluid and decreased fetal movement put both the mother and unborn baby at serious risk.

Medical history

Mim Akhter was admitted to the hospital on November 25 , 2025, with a diagnosis of severe oligohydramnios and fetal distress. On the same day, she had a successful cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Both mother and newborn were discharged on November 29, 2025, in good health. Her husband came to the hospital to receive her and their child. The family expressed their gratitude to Helpster, Central Clinic and Bablu Abdullah for their treatment and support. Her husband was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster.

Prognosis

The doctor recommends an urgent cesarean section for Mim Akhter to prevent life-threatening complications for both her and her baby. With oligohydramnios could result in fetal distress, stillbirth, or serious maternal complications such as uterine rupture or placental issues. A timely caesarean section offers the best chance of delivering a healthy baby and protecting the mother’s life. If the procedure is performed promptly Mim and her child are expected to recover well, with significantly reduced risks of morbidity or mortality. Without this intervention, both mother and baby face a critical situation that could have irreversible consequences.
