Raton Ray was diagnosed with enteric fever, a serious bacterial infection that causes prolonged high fever, severe headache, weakness, and cough. For several days, his fever remained high and persistent, leaving him physically exhausted and unable to carry out his daily responsibilities. Without proper medical treatment, enteric fever can lead to dangerous complications affecting the intestines and other organs.

Background
Raton Ray, an 18-year-old college student, is the only earning member of his family, surviving on just 3,000 taka per month while caring for his 74-year-old father, Puspo Ranjon Toren, who is unable to work after a cardiac arrest, and his paralyzed mother, Josna Rani. Despite his extreme hardship, Raton is responsible, hardworking, and determined to continue his education and become a teacher. The family cannot afford medical treatment with this limited income, and when Raton became seriously ill with enteric fever, his condition worsened day by day. Without proper treatment, his prolonged high fever could have caused severe complications and left his dependent parents without care. After learning about Helpster’s charity support from a poster, Raton contacted Bablu Abdullah, and this timely assistance made his treatment and recovery possible.
Medical history
Raton Ray was admitted to the hospital on November 17, 2025, with a high fever. After medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with enteric fever. Following seven days of treatment, his condition improved significantly, and he was discharged on November 23, 2025, in good health. His cousin accompanied him at the hospital and was present at the time of discharge. Raton expressed his sincere gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, and Md. Abdullah Miah for their dedicated treatment and support. His cousin was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster, which played a crucial role in ensuring timely and proper medical care.
Prognosis
The doctor explained that with conservative management, parenteral antibiotics, and proper supportive care under hospitalization, the patient has a very good chance of making a full recovery and returning to normal life. This treatment will help control the infection, reduce the prolonged fever, and prevent serious complications, allowing Raton to continue his education and fulfill his responsibilities toward his parents. With timely and complete treatment, no long-term effects are expected. However, if the child is left untreated, enteric fever can lead to severe intestinal complications, organ damage, prolonged weakness, and even death.
