Eight-year-old Tanha Akter is a gentle and affectionate child who depends on her mother and siblings for almost every movement due to her severe vision problem. Her father, Mamun Patwary, is a landless farmer earning around 7,000 taka per month by working on others’ land, which is barely enough to feed their five children and manage basic household needs in their small tin-made home. With no savings or property, the family cannot afford the costly eye surgery needed to treat her congenital cataracts in both eyes. Tanha dreams of going to school like her sister Marjia and living independently, but without urgent treatment, she may lose her remaining vision permanently and remain fully dependent on her family for life. After learning about Helpster Charity from Nasima Akhter at BNSB Eye Hospital, her parents are seeking support to give their daughter a chance to see and build a brighter future.

Tanha Akter, a 8-year-old girl, required urgent cataract surgery in the both eyes as the condition was significantly affecting vision development at this early age. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia on 11.07.2026 at Right eye and on 18.04.2026 at Left Eye by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure. The treatment progressed smoothly, with the medical team carefully monitoring her during and after surgery. As healing began, she showed steady improvement, responding well to the treatment plan. The cataract removal successfully restored clarity, and visual acuity improved remarkably. Now she feels much more comfortable and can see clearly, which will greatly support healthy visual growth. This positive outcome has brought immense relief and joy to the family. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Tanha urgently needs cataract surgery under general anesthesia, followed by the implantation of secondary intraocular lenses in both eyes. The doctor’s prognosis is positive—if treated now, Tanha has a strong chance of gaining meaningful vision, improving her mobility, and participating in daily activities like other children her age. Restoring her eyesight will allow her to learn, walk independently, communicate better, and significantly improve her overall development. However, if she remains untreated, she will continue living in darkness, facing irreversible blindness and limited mental growth, leaving her permanently dependent on others for the rest of her life.
