Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Baby Takrim Hossain is a fragile yet precious one-month-old child whose early life has already been a struggle, but his family dreams of seeing him grow into a healthy and happy boy. His father, Ibrahim Khalil, earns only around 9,000 BDT per month as a day laborer, which must support a large family of nine members, making it impossible to afford the costly eye treatment he urgently needs. Despite their love and care, the family has already exhausted their savings during his NICU treatment and now faces helplessness as his vision is at risk. Without timely treatment, Takrim may lose his eyesight permanently, which would affect his entire future and ability to live a normal life. After being informed about Helpster Charity through a hospital counselor, the family now holds onto hope to save their child’s vision and give him a chance to see the world.
Medical history
Takrim Hossain, a 1-month-old baby boy, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can seriously affect vision if not treated promptly. To manage the abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels, Anti-VEGF injections were administered on 20.11.2025 by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment was carried out with great care, and he was closely monitored during follow-up visits. He responded well to the injections, showing steady improvement in his retinal condition. The abnormal blood vessel growth is now under control, and his retina is gradually stabilizing. Doctors remain hopeful that he will develop clear vision as he grows. Sincere thanks to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for their generous support in helping safeguard his eyesight.
Prognosis
According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Takrim urgently requires Anti-VEGF injections, such as Avastin, in both eyes, along with routine follow-up examinations. Doctors confirm that timely treatment can stop abnormal vessel growth and allow the retina to develop properly, helping Takrim maintain his vision and grow normally. However, if treatment is delayed, the damage could become irreversible, leading to permanent blindness. The required treatment and follow-up cost approximately BDT 18,000, which is far beyond the family’s financial ability. With compassionate support, Takrim can be given the chance to see, learn, and build a brighter future free from darkness.
