Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care
Bishwas Kumar Akka is suffering from a severe infected non-union fracture of his right leg involving the patella, tibia, and fibula, indicating that the fractured bones have failed to heal and are complicated by chronic infection. He experiences constant severe pain, swelling, and open wounds with continuous pus discharge, which significantly increase the risk of further infection. His knee joint is completely stiff with no range of movement, leaving him unable to stand, walk, or perform daily activities independently.

Background
Bishwas Kumar Akka is a hardworking and responsible young man who, despite coming from a marginalized tribal minority family, was determined to support his parents and younger sibling after completing his SSC. His father, Bipul Kumar Akka, earns only about BDT 8,000 per month as a small farmer, while his mother, Rina Rani, has no income, and the family has already sold assets and exhausted all savings to pay for earlier surgeries. Bishwas now lies bedridden with severe pain and infection in his right leg, unable to walk, work, or contribute to his family’s survival. Without urgent and continued treatment, the infection may worsen, leading to permanent disability, amputation, or even life-threatening complications. For this family, further medical costs are impossible to bear, and timely support is the only hope to save Bishwas’s leg and future.
Medical history
On 06 December 2025, Bishwas Kumar Akka was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital Ltd., Dhaka, after months of unbearable pain, infection, and complete loss of mobility in his right leg. Doctors in the Orthopedic Department found that his broken bones had not healed and were badly infected, the result of a tragic road accident earlier in the year. During his five-day stay, Bishwas underwent a major procedure to remove infected implants, clean the wounds, and stabilize his leg, along with intensive medical care. He was discharged on 11 December 2025 in a stable condition, with visible improvement and renewed hope, though his recovery will take time and continued treatment. With support from Helpster Charity, Bishwas and his family now believe that he still has a chance to heal, walk again, and rebuild the life that was taken from him so suddenly.
Prognosis
The planned treatment—including aggressive infection control with parenteral antibiotic therapy, removal of the existing implants, thorough surgical debridement and wash, and stabilization of the limb using an Ilizarov external fixator—offers Bishwas the best chance for recovery. With timely and proper management, the infection can be controlled, bone healing can be reinitiated, and gradual restoration of limb function may be achieved, allowing him to regain mobility and independence over time. This treatment is crucial to preserve the affected limb and prevent further complications. If left untreated, the infection is likely to spread, leading to worsening bone destruction, systemic infection, and a high risk of permanent disability or limb amputation. Early intervention is therefore essential to save his leg and significantly improve his quality of life.
