Mohammad, a 9-month-old child, was diagnosed with Acute Watery Diarrhoea with Respiratory Tract Infection (RTI), a life-threatening emergency due to severe dehydration. Acute watery diarrhoea causes frequent loose, watery stools and rapid loss of fluids and electrolytes, which is especially dangerous for infants. Because Mohammad was already severely dehydrated, he required immediate medical intervention to prevent electrolyte imbalance and organ damage. Without urgent treatment, this condition can quickly become fatal, particularly in vulnerable children like Mohammad.

Background
Mohammad is a cheerful and affectionate 9-month-old boy who lives in a small tin-shed house with his parents and grandparents, a family with big dreams but very limited income. His parents, who struggle daily to meet basic needs, cannot afford the high cost of prolonged medical treatment despite their deep love and hope that Mohammad will one day grow up to become a kind and successful doctor. As his severe diarrhea and vomiting continued, Mohammad became dangerously weak and dehydrated, leaving his mother and grandparents helpless and terrified as they watched his condition worsen. Without urgent treatment, his life is at serious risk due to complications of severe dehydration and infection. The family is now desperately seeking support from Helpster through its charity partner, Narayanganj Poly Clinic, to save Mohammad’s life and give him a chance to grow up healthy and fulfill his parents’ dreams.
Medical history
Mohammad, a 9 month old boy, was suffering from acute watery diarrhea with respiratory tract infection which worsened after receiving inappropriate treatment from a local pharmacy. Despite taking unsuitable antibiotics and other medications, her condition deteriorated, leaving her dehydrated and lethargic. In urgent need of care, he was admitted to the hospital for critical treatment, where he received intravenous cholera saline, oral antibiotics, zinc syrup, probiotics, and ORS. Thanks to the dedicated team at Narayanganj Polyclinic, Mohammad has made a full recovery and returned home, bringing joy back to her family. With tears of relief and gratitude, his parents expressed, "We are eternally grateful to Helpster Donors and the Narayanganj Polyclinic Team for their unwavering support. He admitted on 1/12/25 and discharged was on 4/12/25.
Prognosis
The patient was suffering from acute watery diarrhea with respiratory tract infection was life-threatening due to severe dehydration. Immediate treatment was necessary, and the patient was admitted for emergency care. He received intravenous cholera saline, oral antibiotics, zinc syrup, ORS, and probiotics. If left untreated, this condition could have led to severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, organ damage, and even death. Fortunately, Mohammad is now doing well and has returned to her normal daily life, bringing smiles to her parents' faces.
