Background
Nurma Akter is a bright and determined 15-year-old student who, despite early marriage, continues her studies in class ten and dreams of becoming a school teacher, finding comfort in reading books. She lives with her husband Md. Rana Mia, her mother-in-law Rehana Begum, and her sister-in-law Setu, surviving on a modest monthly income of only 8,000 taka from her husband’s job as a shop assistant. For the past three years, Nurma has endured constant throat pain, nasal blockage, headaches, and breathing difficulties, but the family’s financial hardship delayed proper medical care. Doctors have warned that without treatment, her condition could worsen, leading to repeated severe infections, abscess formation, and serious breathing complications that may threaten her health and education. Learning about Helpster through a poster, the family reached out to Bablu Abdullah with hope that timely support could restore Nurma’s health and allow her to continue pursuing her dreams.
Medical history
Nurma Akter was admitted to the hospital on December 18, 2025, with DNS with HIT with Maxillary Sinusitis and Recurrent Tonsilitis problem. Her first surgery ( Septoplasty with ECT with FESS) was conducted on December 18, 2025. After two days, she was discharged on December 19, 2025, in good health. Her husband and mother came to the hospital to receive her. The family expressed their gratitude to Helpster, Jumuna Clinic and, Md Abdullah Miah for their treatment and support. Her husband was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster. Nurma Akter was admitted in Hospital again on June 19, 2026. The following day her second operation, Tonsillectomy was conducted. After two days, she was discharged on June 21, 2026 in good Health. Her husband came to receive her and very grateful to Helpster.
Prognosis
Doctors expect that performing septoplasty with ECT and FESS will significantly improve Nurma Akter’s nasal airflow, reduce chronic sinus infections, and relieve facial pain and breathing difficulties. Clearing the nasal passages and infected sinuses will also help prevent repeated throat infections and lower the risk of future abscess formation. The planned tonsillectomy after three months under general anesthesia is expected to permanently resolve her recurrent tonsillitis, allowing her to eat, sleep, and function normally without frequent illness. If left untreated, her condition may worsen, leading to repeated severe infections, breathing problems, and potentially life-threatening complications such as deep neck infections. Timely surgical treatment offers a lasting improvement in her quality of life and overall health.
